Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART)

The main aim of most assisted reproductive techniques is to help egg and sperm unite successfully, and, in the process, bypassing some of the problems that cause infertility.

The appropriate type of assisted conception treatment depends upon the results of various tests and investigations. These may include: ovulation induction, laparoscopic surgery, artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization (IVF), intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), gamete intra fallopian tube transfer (GIFT) etc.

The various treatment options will be discussed in full by your fertility specialist to ensure that you are familiar with the options available.

At Wilgers Infertility Clinic we consider all available options before embarking on any specific course of treatment. As part of our comprehensive services our standard laboratory procedures include oocyte and spindle imaging for all our IVF and ICSI patients. Laser assisted hatching is performed on embryos when required. We believe it is essential that couples are physically and emotionally prepared for the process; therefore we regard supportive counseling central to a positive experience.
